Freshly Dropped

Context.

Freshly Dropped is a food service that delivers freshly picked meal boxes for its clients to prepare at home. They now want to expand their repertoire of services by having a recipe app.

The 'brand' wanted to expand into the area of apps for sharing healthy recipes and wanted to give people the option of downloading the recipes with the various ingredients and then going to get everything they needed, or ordering one of their boxes, with all the ingredients to make the recipes.

PROBLEM SPACE

How can the process of planning meals and ordering groceries be made easy and enjoyable for busy people?

The Process.

Design

SOLUTION SKETCHING

I started with rough sketches & notes, brainstorming different solutions & ideas for user flows and app features. After multiple iterations based on set problems, a basic design language for the app started to form which helped me develop further stages of prototyping.

ILLUSTRATION PROCESS

Further on, I created a few graphics for different meal sets on the app which would help users segregate recipes based on different meal times.

LOGO DESIGN

For logo design, I maintained the required theme and colour palette for the app.

The Idea of freshly delivered produce was depicted through the design integration of fresh-cut fruits and vegetable graphics.

FINAL PRODUCT

In the final iteration, I focused on UI design elements for the screens. I added high-quality images and Information texts which would help users understand the workings of the app. Other UI elements on the app were designed to compliment the colour scheme of the brand.

TAKEAWAYS

Freshly Dropped presented an exciting opportunity as one of my initial design challenges. Crafting a recipe app for this innovative food service proved to be a delightful experience. Not only did I work on its UI, but I also explored the realms of illustration and logo design for the first time.

I gained a deeper appreciation for the impact of integrating high-quality images and informative text. This experience taught me the crucial role of visual communication in elevating user engagement and comprehension.

This project served as a significant milestone in my journey as a designer, providing practical insights into the iterative design process and the importance of user-centric solutions.
